Dear List, I here present limited LOCKE and DALLMEYER information that was requested by Helen Marie Jones, 118 Hilltop Road, Columbus Junction, IA 52738-9581, and which I recently researched--over a year after the request, unfortunately. Josiah Homer LOCKE was born 5 May 1846, in New Jersey; he died in Louisa County on 5 January 1923 and is buried in Indian Creek Cemetery. He married (1) (Unknown) and married (2) Emma Dallmeyer, daughter of Claus and Anna (Schlichting) Dallmeyer (see bios on this web site), born 9 February 1866; died 2/4 November, 1919. He came to Louisa County as a young man, then left for Ringgold County in Iowa and later moved on to Kansas. He returned to the Pleasant Grove church area circa 1893, and lived there almost thirty years. He leaves one unmarried sister, Miss Fannie Locke, living in Camden, New Jersey, a son, Howard, and two step-daughters. Children are: 1. Hazel Irene Dallmeyer was born 14 March 1899 and died in 1 December 1988. She was married to Ira E/T. Jones (1891 - 1968). 2. Mabel Dallmeyer lived as a single woman in Muscatine; she later married a Johnson and lived near Columbus Junction. 3. James Howard Locke, born 15 November 1907, in the Indian Creek area of Concord Township; died 24 January 1974, in or near Columbus Junction, and was buried at Indian Creek Cemetery. He married Catherine Schabilion at Kahoka, Missouri on June 20, 1941. He went by the name of Howard and worked for years for the Farmer's Supply Company of Columbus Junction. Howard and Catherine had two children: (1) James Howard Locke, Jr. and (2) Robert DeWayne Locke. Josiah Homer Locke's presumed 2nd wife had 4 half-sisters and a half-brother, they being: 1. Minnie M. Dallmeyer (1873 - 1967) who was married 18 August 1887 (at 14?) to John G. Richley and lived in Muscatine. 2. Matilda C. Dallmeyer (1873 - 1967) was married to Lewis B. Lee (1869 - 1926) on 25 July 1894. . 3 Lewis Madison Dallmeyer (23 November 1877 - 5 Feb 1966) married (1) Tracy Weise born 10 May 1881; died 4 February 1903; on 21 December 1898, and had children Harlan and Lois Lowe. Lewis Madison married (2) Gertrude and had children Lola Tremont, Kenneth, Helen Thompson, Floyd, Lewis, Carl, Agnes, Minnie, Francis. 4. Ida M. Dallmeyer (1884 - 1968) married Harry E. Littrell (1881 - 1931). 5. Dora A. Dallmeyer (1887 - 1974) married Arthur D. Crumly and lived in Columbus Junction area. Children are (1) Lloyd (2) Edwin (3) Leo (4) Robert (5) Max (6) Lester (7) Merle (8) Vida, who married a Hetzler. The above five Dallmeyers are half-brothers and sisters to Emma Dallmeyer, who married Josiah Homer Locke. Claus Dallmeyer (1818 - 1892) married (1) Anna Schlichting (1826 - 1869) and had Henry, Emma Locke and Mary. Claus married (2) Dora Wilkens (1845 - 1920) on 23 June 1870, and had children Minnie, Ida, Tillie (Matilda), Dora and Charles. OK, that is the basics. Much more could easily be fleshed in.
