I believe that my great-grandfather, Jesse Justus Hill is buried in Oakland-Carpenter Cemetery. His wife, Sarah Long Hill may also be buried there with her infant daughter. Sarah and daughter died on Sept 1, 1860 and Jesse Justus Hill died in February of 1864. Jesse left three orphaned children who were cared for by their uncles, Samuel, Gideon and Israel Hill. One of the children, Howard A. Hill, was my great-grandfather and is buried here in Redmond, Oregon. Howard went with one of the uncles, Aenos Clark Hill to Clay Center, Kansas where he met and married my great-grandmother, Sarah Craig. Howard and Sarah had twelve children. Jesse Justus' father was Francis Hill and his mother was Elizabeth Truss Hill. Both Francis and Elizabeth are buried at the Oakland-Carpenter cemetery. My great-grandfather was born in Fredonia.
