Just passing along some of Roberta's gems of knowledge during the holiday season. You may want to utilize these features while you can access them. Norma --------------- Subject: Ancestry.com - free access to all databases till 01/04/2000 Resent-Date: Wed, 22 Dec 1999 05:09:36 -0800 (PST) Resent-From: FULTON-L@rootsweb.com Date: Wed, 22 Dec 1999 08:09:39 -0500 From: "Roberta (Fulton) Hirth" <hirth@frontiernet.net> To: FULTON-L@rootsweb.com Folks, I saw this post on the LDS-Genealogy-L list: "For those of you who don't already know, Ancestry.com http://www.ancestry.com FamilyTreeMaker's GenealogyLibrary.com http://www.familytreemaker.com/_glc_/ Everton Publishers - "Records Available on Everton's On-Line Search" http://emh.everton.com/subscribers/magazine/main.html are all giving free access to their entire sites starting December 20, 1999. Ancestry's ends January 4, 2000 and FTM's is for a week and Everton ends 12/31/99." I was able to successfully use the ancestry.com free access using Internet Explorer browser (ancestry.com had a problem with my Netscape 4.5 browser). I have not been successful gaining access to the FamilyTreeMaker or Everton's. There is lots of information to explore on ancestry.com. I recommend checking it out. You have to register for a userid and password (appears no strings attached) and then access is granted. You can use the global search to search all databases. Or if you want a list of their databases, on the first page at the top select the SEARCH tab, then select ADVANCED SEARCH, scroll down and on the left look for List of All Databases and select VIEW A LIST. This is convoluted to find, but I wanted to get an overview of the type of databases they carry. Remember you can use your browser's Edit/Find function to quickly find database names on this list of databases. Roberta R.
