Hi Mari, Just reading over your post of 9/5/99--what I have on the census is #15\15 SMITH, George age 29, farmer, b Canada, Fredonia; his wife, Nancy (nee BLAKE), age 33, b VA. (the marriage listing shows they were married 3 Aug 1843 --Bk "A" p 16). Also in that household is M. Joseph McCLARY. I didn't find him listed at all either under that spelling or under McClurg--apparently it was missed when the book was published. SMITH (George W. on 1850 census, s/oJohn & Rachel in Jefferson Twp?)\ Adeline FRIZZELL* (65) Bk "E" p 227 18 Sept 1879 George SMITH\ Amanda SIVERLY* (72) Bk "I" p 8 11 Dec 1898 George H. SMITH, 30\ Vina I. NEWELL,* 27 (114) There could very well be another George & Nancy SMITH however they are not listed on the 1850 Louisa Co. census nor is there a marriage listing for a Nancy BEDWELL in Louisa Co. There quite a number of SMITH marriages which I will post in a few days. This information probably will only add to the mystery for you. Bev
