Alonzo Al Hamilton, 67, a resident of Wapello for the past 12 years, died Sunday morning at the Community Memorial Hospital in Monmouth, Ill. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Monmouth Cemetery. The Rev. Chester Chandler will officiate. Visitation is today at the Turnbull Funeral Home, Monmouth, and Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral homes. The son of Ira M. and Minnie Painter Hamilton, he was born March 25, 1915, in Eagle Rock, Va. His marriage to Betty Dill took place June 20, 1953, in Princeton, Ill. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Glen Ellyn VFW of Wapello. He was also a member of the Oddfellows Lodge No. 19 of Wapello and was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Hamilton had been employed as an industrial salesman. Survivors include his wife; one son, Alan L., a lance corporal in the Marines, stationed in El Torro, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Lana) Hilton of Royal, Ill., and Mrs. Vicki Harris of Monmouth, Ill., and Mrs. William (Anita) Crabill of Bloomington, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. William (Lillian) McCann of Monmouth, Ill., and Mrs. Joseph (Gladys) Cope of Rock Island One sister preceded him in death.
