Ivens, age 75 of Morning Sun, died Sunday, July 26, 2000, at the Morning Sun Care Center. The daughter of Walter and Alice Baker Winblad, she was born December 14, 1924 at Rock Island, Illinois. On June 8, 1947 she married Robert Ivins at Burlington. She was a graduate of the Oquawka High School and a 1942 graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Burlington. She worked as part of her training as an Army nurse during the end of WWII. She also worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital in Burlington; the Morning Sun Manor when it first opened, and for Dr. Carleton's Clinic in Morning Sun. She was a member of the Morning Sun United Methodist Church, where she served as organist in earlier years and helped form the bell choir. She also served on the Morning Sun Library Board and the Patient Care Committee at the Morning Sun Care Center. Survivors include her mother, Alice, of Morning Sun; husband Bob Ivins of Morning Sun; one daughter, Bonnie Galbraith and husband Chuck of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Bill Ivins and wife Mary of Mediapolis and Tim Ivins of Omah, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan, Tom and Emily. She was preceded in death by her father. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2000 from the United Methodist Church in Morning Sun, the Rev. Chris Thomas officiating. According to her wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine. There was no visitation and burial of her cremains will be at a later date at the Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun. Memorials have been established for the benefit of the Morning Sun Care Center, Morning Sun Ambulance Service, and the Morning Sun Library. Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun was in charge of arrangements.
