Shafer-Snyder November 20, 1868 - February <http://iagenweb.org/boards/louisa/obituaries/index.cgi?rev=268521> AUTHOR: Judy Kelley, vo DATE: 3/2/2010 at 18:58:01 Surnames: SNYDER,SHAFER,BEIK Source: LCHS scrapbook Emma E. Shafer-Snyder was born November 20, 1868, in Oto county, Neb., where she lived until she was seven years old, when her parents moved to Iowa, settling near Moscow, later moving to Grandview, where they made their home for many years. At the age of sixteen years she was converted at the Evangelical church, under the labors of Rev. Fink, afterward uniting with the M.E. church where she remained a consistent member until February 28, 1911, when the All-Wise Father saw fit to call her home at the age of 42 years, 3 months and 8 days. Mrs. Snyder had been in poor health for some time, but now one was prepared for the sudden changes that brought sorrow into the home so quickly. Mrs. Snyder was united in marriage April 16, 1891, to Harry H. Snyder. To this union three children were born - Hazel, who preceded her mother in death Oct. 26, 1909; Inez and Howard, at home. She leaves to mourn her departure, besides her two children, a husband, her father, one sister, and three brothers - Mrs. William Beik, of Grandview; Henry of Letts; Robert, of Grandview, and George F. of Wapello. Her death brings grief to a host of other relatives and friends, who will greatly miss her kindly sympathy, cheerfulness and good will. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, and was always ready to lend a helping hand, when or wherever it was needed, even to the sacrificing of her own good. While she will be so sadly missed, we bow in submission to the will of our Heavenly father who knoweth best and doeth all things well. After a short service in the home, the remains were taken to Grandview, where the funeral services were held at the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. Jesse Huddle, assisted by Rev. Madrigel. Interment was made in Grandview cemetery.
