Gast, 83, died Oct. 9 at Holy Cross Hospital, Sylmar, Calif. Burial was at Eternal Valley Cemetery at Newhall, Calif. Mr. Gast was born Oct. 30, 1904 on the family farm east of Grandview, a son of Terry and Margaret Kollenberger Gast. He graduated from the Grandview Consolidated High School in 1924. He married Avis Morn of Mount Ayer, Aug. 13, 1938 at Los Angeles. He was in home construction in Florida and a mechanic for Charles Nelson in Wapello. An interest in the airplane led to Burbank, Calif. where he was employed by Lockheed Corporation and managed the assembly line during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Avis; one brother, Dan; a sister, Ruth Conklin, both of Grandview; and a sister Mae Gast of Oakdale; and several nieces and nephews.
