CRADDOCK CALLED BY DEATH YESTERDAY Pioneer Resident Pases Away At His Home After Illness of Several Months John W. Craddock, a pioneer resident of Muscatine county and one of the best known residents of Muscatine Island, passed away at his home yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock. He had been ill for several months and had been growing worse slowly until it was seen that he could not survive and the expected end came peacefully. He was born in Ypsilanti, Mich., February 2, 1838, from where he moved to Muscatine in 1854, having lived in this county ever since. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in the eighteenth Iowa Volunteer Infantry and was a member of the Shelby Norman Post, G. A. R. On November 22, 1866, he was united in marriage to Sarah Wamsley in Louisa county. He is survived by his bereaved wife and two sons, Arthur and Jesse, both at home. The funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. G.P. Badgley, pastor of the Island and Musserville Methodist Episcopal churches, officiating. The obsequies were held at the Island church.
