Cornic, 95, rural Morning Sun, died Saturday, October 4, 1986 at Morning Sun Manor. Visitation was held Tuesday evening at Pierce Funeral Home, where a memorial has been established. Services were held at the Morning Sun United Methodist Church, Wednesday, October 8 at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Dick Clark officiated. Pallbearers were Mike Karagin, Steve Karagin, Brad Karagin, Dwight Cornick, Robert Carleton D.O., and H. Jack Wheeler. Marjorie Wheeler and Elda Sherwood assisted with flowers. Geneva Samuels was organist. The Rev. Dick Clark was vocalist. Burial was at Elmwood Cemetery. Pierce Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He was born Aubust 31, 1891 on a farm near Mt. Union. He was the son of Thomas and Mary Gabeline Cornic. He was one of 10 children. He married Marie Wheeler June 12, 1920 at Washington, Iowa. He was a lifelong farmer in the Morning Sun area. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wapello. He served on the A.S.C.S. committee and various other farm organizations. He is survived by his wife, Marie; one daughter, Mrs. Beverly (Milos) Karagin, Gary, IN; three grandsons, Brad, Dallas, Texas; Mike, Morning Sun; Steve, Gary, IN; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Hauf; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Bessie Wheeler, Morning Sun. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
