Turk, 85, of Morning Sun, died Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Morning Sun Manor. Born July 15, 1901 at Osceola, he was the son of Alfred and Olive Sibley Turk. He married Susan James Sept. 9, 1926 at Mount Pleasant; she died April 12, 1984. He had been employed in the Burlinton Railroad Shops and then farmed near Mount Pleasant and in the Morning Sun community for over 50 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Morning Sun, and the Senior Citizens Association. Surviving are one brother, C.R. Turk, Woodburn, Ore.; one sister, Eula Short, Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held Friday at Pierce Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the United Methodist Church and the Morning Sun Library. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Morning Sun United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dick clark officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa. Pallbearers were Maurice Schmeiser, Gary Perry, Wendell Raith, Lee Harris, Rodney Jones and Leslie Jones. Geneva Samuels was organist.
