Kuntz, 69, of Oakville, died Wednesday morning, June 18, at his home. Born Feb. 13, 1917 at Oakville, he was the son of Joe and Emma Berger Kuntz. He was a 1935 graduate of the Oakville School. He pitched baseball for 20 years for the Moose and Canadian teams as well as others and had farmed near Oakville all his life. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Oakville. Surviving are his wife, Sue, Oakville; five stepdaughters, Stephanie Hall, Mesa, Ariz., Stacy Hall, Berlin, Germany, Lyn Snyder, Wapello, Brenda Hughey, Sunnymead, Calif., and Cindy Robbins, Muscatine; one stepson, Marty Walker, Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers, Art, Wapello, and Ray Curly, Oakville; and four grandchildren. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 20 at the Oakville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Harold E. Werley officiated. Phyllis McCulley was organist. Pallbearers were Milton Kuntz, Gary Kuntz, Bob Kuntz, Mark Kuntz, Keith Kuntz and Jim Velky. Honorary pallbearers were Mel Kupferschmid, Ray Criner, A.D. Spitznogle, Virgil Massner, Dale Massner, Rodney Malcolm, Forrest Hunt, Don Malcolm, Nelson Graham, and Robert Campbell. Flowers were cared for by Donna Schroder, Peggy Hunt, Peg McConahay and Marilyn Malcolm. Graveside services at the Hawkeye Cemetery with Mr. Ed Lantz officiating.
