He was the son of Frederick and Sarah Beik and came with his parents to America in 1845. In 1846 the family located in Louisa county, near Grandview, where he was reared and where he resided until the time of his death. On the 14th of February, 1864, he was married to Miss Lovey Godfrey. To them three children were born: Nettie, now Mrs. Jacob Bentz, Luella, now Mrs. Graham, and May, now Mrs. Wilson, all of whom were with their father during his sickness, and who did all that loving daughters could do to minister to their father through his affliction. He also leaves five grandchildren, one brother, Jacob, and one sister, Mrs. Bentz, of Muscatine. His wife died in 1903, but he continued to reside on his farm with his daughter, Mrs. Bentz. Mr. Beik was very much attached to his home seldom leaving it unless called on business. He was a good neighbor and citizen, an affectionate husband, and leaves a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his departure. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday, Dec. 15, conducted by Rev. C.L. Wilson, of Columbus City, assisted by Rev. Moger, of Grandview. Interment in the Grandview cemetery.
