Anthony Kirk, 16, Route 3, Columbus Junction, was pronounced dead at University Hospitals in Iowa City, after the accident which occurred Saturday at 7:15 p.m. while he was driving alone southbound on Johnson County Road X14 about one and a half miles south of Lone Tree. Kirk tried to pass a vehicle driven by Neil Forbes, 21, Route 2, Lone Tree, when he hit Forbes vehicle, lost control of his car, went into the ditch and hit a utility pole, according to Iowa State Patrol reports. The car came to rest on its top. Forbes was not treated for injuries, according to the patrols records. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Conesville Cemetery.
