MOHNSSEN Funeral services for 88 year old Rose Evelyn Mohnssen, of Columbus Junction were held on Friday, May 6, 1994 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, Iowa. Rose died on Tuesday, May 3, 1994 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa after a short illness. Visitation was held Thursday with the family present from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for the United Methodist Church. Burial was at the Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine. Rose Evelyn Trautman was born January 14, 1906 at Nichols, Iowa to Willis & Helen Book Trautman. She married Peter Jacob Mohnssen March 29, 1925 in Muscatine, Iowa. Peter preceded Rose in death on March 29, 1971. She was a homemaker and a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Rose was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Old Clifton Club. Survivors included: a son, Walther Jack Mohnssen, Letts and a daughter, Mrs. Royal (June) Jennings, Winfield, Iowa. There are eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-step-grandchild. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, three grandsons, three brothers and four sisters. Rev. Walden Paige of Columbus Junction United Methodist Church officiated at the services. Donna Belle Hughes was organist. Honorary Casket Bearers were: Annette Scieszinski, Cynthisa Phillips, Barbara Buck, Linda Mohnssen, Patricia Mohnssen, Sheree Garner, Rich Garner and Alan Buck.
