Born July 19, 1914, in Yarmouth, he was the son of Chlode and Ruby Holsteen Oberman. He married Mary Griffin Feb. 20, 1960, in Oquawka, Ill. He was a 1934 graduate of Yarmouth High School. Mr. Oberman owned and operated Oberman Trucking Lines in Danville until 1959. He was employed with the Morrison Knutson Company connected with the Minuteman Missile Program in Aurora, Colo., and the Defense Warehouse in Santa Maria and Modesto, Calif. He moved back to this area and was the service manager at the Ford Motor Company. He later moved to Wapello and ran the Shell Station for 10 years, moving back to Burlington and retiring in 1981. He was a Methodist and was a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge No. 48, A.F. & A.M., the Kaaba Shrine, the Eagles, the Moose Lodge and the Humane Society. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Minnie Ann Frazer of New River, Ariz., and Janet Kolkman of Danville; two sons, Jerry Oberman of Golden, Colo., and Ronald Oberman of Somerset, Ky.; his mother of Morning Sun; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a grandson. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel. Masonic rites and a memorial service for Mr. Oberman will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Lawrence officiating. The body has been cremated.
