Edna Belle Heater, age 87, of Wapello, died Monday evening, February 6, 1995, at the Wapello Nursing and Care Center. The daughter of Samuel C. and Addie Mitchell Hall, she was born March 22, 1907, at Burr Oak, Kansas. She married Hadley O. Heater on December 24, 1928, at Macomb, Illinois. He died November 5, 1972. She was a graduate of Columbus Junction High School and received a two year teaching certificate from Kendall College at Tulsa, Oklahoma. She taught at the Mt. Hope School in rural Louisa County. She and her husband farmed together for many years in Louisa County. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wapello and United Methodist Women, the Merrymakers of Wapello and the Louisa County Farm Bureau. Survivors include a son, Richard "Dick" Heater, Wapello; a daughter, Leola Liljegren of Denver, Colorado; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bessie Ball of Wapello. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Hadley; five brothers, William, Arthur, Harry, James, and George; and three sisters, Leola, Viola, and an infant. The funeral service for Edna Heater will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, at the United Methodist Church at Wapello with Rev. John Ling officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation was held from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello United Methodist Women. Casket bearers will be Pete Hall, Warren Ball, Roger Campbell, LeRoy Fuhlman, George Woodward, and John Elmer Ball. Honorary bearers will be Gary Hunt, Henry Cowles, John McCulley and Lewis Kammerer. Ida Wheeler will care for the flowers, and organist will be Geneva Samuels.
