Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home with the Rev. Allan Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Edwards Cemetery near Oakville. Visitation is at the funeral home. The son of Ernest and Anna Pearl VanSickle Pontzius, he was born Sept. 27, 1924 in Wapello. His marriage to Mabel Yotter took place Oct. 14, 1945, in Oakville. He was a member of the Wapello United Methodist Church. Mr. Pontzius had been a welder at General Electric, Burlington, for 19 years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, James of Quincy, Ill. and Robert of Santee, Calif.; four daughters, Barbara Daugherty of Newton, Janet Buffington and Kay Stephens, both of Wapello, and Carolyn Giese of Muscatine; 13 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and three sisters, Lucille Evans of Mount Pleasant and Verlee Gerst and Irene Gerst, both of Oakville.
