Wapello - Lena M. Small, 84, died Tuesday at the Burlington Medical Center. Services are Friday at 1 p.m. at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home. The Rev. George Yetter will officiate. Burial will be in the Wapello Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Order of Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge memorial services at 7 o'clock. A memorial has been established at the funeral home. Mrs. Small was born Jan 28, 1902 in Cairo, a daughter of George and Melinda Odle Havenhill. She married Vern Small on Oct. 17, 1922 in Burlinton. He died June 10, 1957. She was a graduate of Wapello High School with the class of 1922 and was a member of United Methodist Church, Mary Circle of the church, Order of Eastern Star Lodge No. 257, the Rebekah Lodge No. 129 of which she was past noble grand and the Midway Club, all of Wapello. Survivors include two sons, George Small, Wapello; and Donald Small, Mount Ayr; three daughters, Pauline Bigger, Oquawka, Ill.; Jackie Mills, Delray Beach, Fla.; and Julie Hartsock, Moline; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother, three sisters and one great-grandson.
