Baker, 82, of Riverside, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, Ill. Burial with full military honors will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Baker died Thursday, March 18, 1999, while wintering in Donna, Texas. He had worked for more than 30 years as a truck driver and explosives expert at Kaiser Construction. Mr. Baker was born Jan. 24, 1917, in Burlington. He married Ferrell Manning. He married Helen Petrikin in 1975. He served in the Army during World War II. A memorial fund has been established. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Shirley Butler, Burlington, Karen Pickering, Agency, Esther Cosby, New London, Connie Berg, Coralville, Marilyn Smothers, Lone Tree, Ferrell Ulin, Welman, Betty Arduser, Coal Valley, Sandra Capps, Silvis, Ill., Kathy Schneider, Huntington Beach, Calif. and Marcia Pettis, Charleston, S.C.; sons, Dwight Manning, and Edward Baker, both of Wayland and Kenneth Baker, Brighton; 38 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
