George W. Gipple, an aged and highly respected resident of Letts, died last Wednesday, July 11, at his home there. Death was due to senility after a long illness, the last six weeks of which he was bedfast. Mr. Gipple was one of the oldest residents in eastern Iowa. He celebrated his ninetieth birthday anniversary May 4th this year. He was a resident of Letts for many years. Deceased is survived by eight children. Mrs. Emma Sharp of Falls City Neb.; Mrs. Anna Hudler of Letts; Mrs. Cynthia Dollarhide of Audubon, Iowa; Mrs. Carl Holtz of Sweetland; Charles W. and Lincoln U. Gipple of Letts; E.B. Gipple of Winfield, Iowa, and Harvey W. Gipple of Bentonville Ark. Three brothers and two sisters also survive: Samuel of Columbus Junction, Iowa; Charles of Fort Scott, Kan., and Isaiah of Grandview; Mrs. Mary Zimmerman of Grandview, and Mrs. Julia Egge of Allentown, Pa. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church in Letts at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Burial was made in Letts cemetery. The Rev. Barker of Keota, conducted the services.
