Services for Mary Knapp were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 29, 1993, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Feneral Home with the Rev. Bill Young officiating. Bev Parsons provided the organ music with "Amazing Grace" as a special selection. Casket bearers were Kermit L. Peterson, Randy Johnson, Bill Johnson, Tom McCleary, Robert Knapp and Waldo Davis. Burial followed at the Wapello Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the benefit of the Great River Residential Facility. Mary Lou Knapp, age 67, a resident of the Great River Residentail Facility of Wapello, died Wednesday morning, October 27, 1993, at the Washington County Hospital, Washington, IA. She was born October 26, 1926, at Nichols, IA, the daughter of Elias and Pearl Fogelson Verrips. She married Roscoe Earl "Red" Knapp on December 23, 1944. She was a graduate of Grandview High School. She was a homemaker and in recent years had volunteered at the Head Start program at Wapello. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Mrs. Pete) McCleary of Muscatine and Beverly (Mrs. Rod) Carlson of Wapello; two sons, Gary Knapp of Des Moines and William Knapp of West Burlington; seven grandchildren; and three sisters, Rose Foust of Ankeny, Helen Fogelson of Des Moines, and Hazel Person of Olympia, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and seven brothers and sisters.
