Lila May Failyer, 63, Route 5, Box 5378, died early today at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. Services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 3 at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Feneral Home. The Rev. Andrea Bishop of the North United Methodist Parish will officiate. Florence Hetzler will be organist and Ernie Peniston, vocalist. Pallbearers will be Eric Dietrich, Alek Dietrich, Curt Dietrich, Alan Huttig, Bob Hetzler, Fred Bodman and Matthew Bodman. Honorary pallbearers will be Angie Hetzler, Stephanie Hetzler, Tera Erickson, Christy Cross and Sherry Harmon. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday. A memorial has been established. Mrs. Failyer was born May 20, 1929 in Muscatine, a daughter of William and Flora Huttig Dietrich. She was a life resident of Muscatine. She married Hubert Paul Failyer on June 14, 1946 in Muscatine. She attended Musserville United Methodist Church. Her past memberships included the White Shrine, Worthy High Priestess and the VFW Women's Auxiliary where she served as a past president. She was a past leader of the VFW Junior Unit. She was a member of the Eagle's Lodge and the American Red Cross where she had taught CPR. She was a nurse's aide for several years, went back to school and in 1974 graduated from the University of Iowa's School of Nursing with a bachelor of arts degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Muscatine General Hospital until 1984 when she had to retire because of health reasons. Survivors include her husband, Hubert; two sons, Fred Failyer of Letts, and Billy Failyer of Muscatine; three daughters, Mrs. Tom (Pat) Hetzler of Moscow, and Mrs. Rick (Rose) Bodman and Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Cross, both of Muscatine; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Raymond Dietrich of Muscatine and Billy Dietrich of Nice, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and one daughter, Joyce Ann.
