The daughter of Edward P. and Alfetta (Bucher) Curran, she was born May 3, 1906 at Morning Sun. On June 1, 1929 she married Everett L. Butler at Wapello; he died on October 12, 1985. She attended Concord School and graduated from Morning Sun High School, class of 1925. She taught school at Amity and Toolesboro and worked at various food stores and restaurants. She was a former member of the United Methodist Church in Morning Sun and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Jolly Jokers and the Virginia Grove Club, both of Morning Sun. Survivors include: 2 sons, Bill Butler and Terry Butler both of Morning Sun; 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 2 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Harry and Glen, and 1 sister Nellie. Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 28, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. from Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun, with Rev. Jack Edmisson and Rev. Chris Ebbers officiating. Music was provided by Pamela Butler, organist, and Rev. Chris Ebbers, vocalist. Honorary bearers were Harold Thomas, Millard Johnson, Archie Wolfe, Virginia Jack, Cora Brown, and Cleora McClurkin. Casket bearers were Bob Buckman, Roy Watson, Charles Beck, Bill McElhinney, Herbert Harbison, Jr., and Dr. Raymond Dill. Flower attendants were Sherry Robb and Merry Bonar. Interment was in the Kossuth Cemetery at Mediapolis. Friends called as they desired Monday at Hagele and Honts in Morning sun, where the family met with friends in the evening.
