Born Jan. 31, 1916, at Wapello, he was the son of Henry and Hazel Umphrey Schwob. He married Hilda Sis Odle on March 12, 1939, at Wapello. He was a 1934 graduate of Wapello High School. He operated Schwob Plumbing and Heating in Wapello for about 40 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wapello and the Indian Hills Golf and Country Club. He was a Wapello volunteer firefighter for 15 years and was a former member of Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tom Schwob of Arlington, Texas; a daughter, Sharon Sissel of Muscatine; two sisters, Mary Archibald and Virginia Stone, both of Wapello; two brothers, Robert Schwob and Richard Schwob, both of Wapello; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. There will be no visitation. The funeral for Mr. Schwob will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with the Rev. Ed Philgreen officiating. Burial will be in Wapello Cemetery. The body has been cremated.
