DEAN Grant G. Dean, 66, of Danville, died Friday, September 9, 1994, at his home. Born October 19, 1927, in Burlington, he was the son of Clay H. and Maggie Walker Dean. On October 30, 1948, he married Jean Grinstead in Burlington. Mr. Dean was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he had worked at the IAAP in Middletown for 11 years. He owned and operated Dean’s Conoco for 25 years. After retiring he worked for Community Action of Mount Pleasant. He was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Stanley Dean of Danville and Patrick Dean of rural New London; one daughter, Brenda Gearhart of Burlington; four granddaughters; five step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandsons; three brothers, Harold Dean of Mediapolis, Clifford Dean of Seattle, Washington; and Clay Dean of Decatur, Illinois; and three sisters, Viola Hodge of Low Moor, Gertrude Gibson of Burlington, and Jane Lehnert of Oakville. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. Masonic rites were held Sunday at Elliot Chapel in New London. The funeral for Mr. Dean was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Elliot Chapel with Rev. Bob Dodds officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
