CHRISTY Harry B. Christy, age 88, of Wapello, Iowa, died early Wednesday morning, December 1, 1993, at the Washington County Hospital, Washington, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, 1993, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Philgreen officiating. Kathleen Hagele provided the organ music and David and Deena Christy sang. Casket bearers were Joe Villinger, Don Christy, Brent Kight, Rod Christy, Douglas Swanson, and Brendon Meeker. The honorary bearers were Mark Christy and David Christy. Burial followed at the Floris Cemetery at Floris, Iowa. A Masonic service was held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday conducted by Dennis Wiley and the Wapello Masonic Lodge. A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefits of the United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star Chapter, and the Kiwanis Club, all of Wapello. He was born July 23, 1905, at Floris, Iowa, the son of David and Telly Mae Benge Christy. He married Naomi Winifred Strickland on September 20, 1924, at Ottumwa, Iowa. He was a retired lifelong farmer. His memberships include the United Methodist Church at Wapello, the Wapello Lodge #5 A.F. & A.M., the Kaaba Temple of Davenport, the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, the Louisa County Shrine Club, the Order of Eastern Star #257 of Wapello, and the Kiwanis Club of Wapello. Survivors include his wife, Naomi; three daughters, Evelyn Villinger of Middletown, Rachel Swanson of Maquoketa, and Karen Meeker of Wapello; three sons, Harry Robert Christy of Cedar Rapids, Glen Dean Tuck Christy of West Burlington, and Ronald Christy of West Liberty; thirty-two grandchildren; seventy-four great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Christy of Mountain Home, Arkansas.
