Mabel M. Gorham, 91, of Washington, Iowa, died July 16, 2000, at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washingotn. She had been in failing health for some time. Mabel M. Hess was born July 28, 1908, at Winfield, Iowa, the daughter of David and Clara (Skipton) Hess. She married Eugene Gorham on November 13, 1930. Mable was a graduate of Winfield High School and lived most of her adult life in Washington. In her earlier years Mabel worked as a telephone operator and collector for the Winfield Telephone Company. She was a homemaker. She was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church, TTT, enjoyed playing cards, reading, quilting, and puzzles. Survivors include four sons: Jim Gorham, Washingotn, IA; Don Gorham, Washington, IA; Gary Gorham, Colorado Springs, CO; and Dick Gorham, Wichita, Kansas. There are seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Nelle Lindell and Ollie Allen, both of Winfield, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene in 1989; one sister, one brother, and three half-brothers. Funeral services were held July 18, at the Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washingto. Rev. Ron McMenamin officiated. Burial was at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Systems Unlimited, WCDC, or M.L. McCreedy Home.
