NELSON Pearl Matilda Nelson, age 92, Mediapolis, died Tuesday, April 5, 1994 at the Community Care Center of Mediapolis. The daughter of Ernest and Lillie (Swanson) Gustafson, she was born July 28, 1901 at Mediapolis. On June 7, 1945 she married Harry Nelson at Sheldahl, IA; he preceded her in death. She was a graduate of the Mediapolis High School, class of 1920; she received nurses training at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines; graduating with her R.N. certificate in 1926; she worked as a R.N. in Madrid, IA for several years and then later at Burlington Hospital. Pearl was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church of Burlington. Survivors include: one sister, Violet Amenell of Mediapolis and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister Lillian Kremer and one brother Clarence Gustafson. Funeral services were held Friday, April 8 at 10:30 a.m. from the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, Mediapolis, with Dr. Martin Lehman officiating. Music was provided by Korkee Carruthers, organist. Casketbearers were: Bob Kremer, Donald Kremer, Ed Jarrard, Keith Thomas, Dave Hodges, Sandy Hodges. Interment was in the Kossuth Cemetery.
