Coppes, 30, Vinton, formerly of Yarmouth, was fatally injured in an automobile acident eight miles east of Vinton when he missed a curve on a blacktop road at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 1984. He was born Oct. 12, 1953, at Burlington, the son of Milo and Doris Brennecke Coppes. He married Rosemarie Gray Oct. 23, 1975, at Summerville, South Caroline. He served on a nuclear submarine in the Navy for six years. He was employed by the Duane Arnold Nuclear Center at Palo. Surviving: his Wife; four daughters, Brandy Rose, Charidy Marie, Jamie Lynn and Jessica May, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Coppes, Yarmouth; his grandmothers, Mrs. Grace Coppes, Yarmouth, and Mrs. Mildred Brennecke of Marshalltown; four brothers, Michael and Ronald both of Yarmouth, Dennis, Morning Sun, Andrew, Mt. Union; two sisters Mrs. Janelle Davis and Mrs. Sally Campbell, both of Burlington. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Elliott Chapel in New London, the Rev. Ronald Wigand. The body will be cremated and the ashes will be interred in Trinity Cemetery, Mt. Union. Friends may call Monday 7-9.
