He was born Sept. 16, 1890, the son of Stephen and Elizabeth Grim Martin. On Nov. 25, 1915, he married Fern Hill, and moved to the Marsh community where he farmed during the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Marsh Methodist church. Surviving are his wife; two sons, James L. Martin, of Burlington, and Paul Martin, of Morning Sun; two daughters, Mrs. Virlee Johnston, of Fairfield, and Lois Martin, of North Hollywood, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Woodruff, of Columbus Junction, and Mrs. Mae Tindall, of Morning Sun; two brothers, John Martin, of Columbus Junction, and Ezra Martin, of Mount Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Marsh Methodist church, the Rev. Edna Whitson officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery at Morning Sun. Source: newspaper clipping – no date
