Kerr, 51, Route 2, Wapello, died Saturday evening, June 8, 1991, at the Burlington Medical Center, in Burlington. Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 12, at the United Methodist Church in Wapello. The Rev. George Yetter will officiate. Burial will be at the Wapello Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, June 11. Memorials may be made to the scholarship fund, Keck Memorial Library or the Wapello Athletic Department. Mr. Kerr was born March 15, 1940 in Burlington, a son of Leonard and Rose Peters Kerr. He married Barbara Carlsen on Sept. 1, 1962, in Clinton. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; one son, John, of Wapello; two daughters, Laura Havel of Mount Prospect, Ill., and Anita of Iowa City; three brothers, Richard, of Wapello; Roger, of Dallas, Texas; and David, of Morning Sun; five nephews, four nieces, two grand-nephews and one grand-niece. He was a graduate of the Wapello High School in 1958. He attended Iowa State University in Ames and graduated from Western Illinois University at Macomb, Ill. He received his master’s from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Mo. He taught and coached basketball and football at South Pekin, Ill, WACO at Wayland, Iowa, and Wapello, where he was also a guidance counselor. He worked for 15 years for Farm Bureau Insurance. Most recently he worked for Farmland Insurance. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wapello, and the I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 19.
