Robert F. Reaney, 73, of Columbus Junction, died suddenly Monday, July 1, 1991, at Bergen Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home with Rev. Walden Paige officiating. Donna Belle Hughes was organist. Casket bearers were Clyde Crawford, Larry Robertson, Leroy Hughes, Mike Pavey, Steve Moore and John Currie. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery. He was born December 26, 1917, in Columbus Junction to James and Edith Earle Reaney. He married Margaret Hanft on April 12, 1941, and later married Iris Cutkomp Bitting on June 24, 1976. He was a member of the Louisa County Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association of which he just recently was recognized as a 50 year member, also a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. He had been a life long practicing attorney in Columbus Junction. Surviving are a son, John Reaney of Columbus Junction; a daughter, Ruth Cornick of Iowa City; two step-sons, Ron Bitting of Clarinda and Terry Bitting of Atlantic; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Benbow; his parents and his second wife, Iris, who died in February 1988.
