James L. Hodges 1925-1994 (printed under picture) James L. Hodges, 68, Wapello, died Monday, January 31, in Burlington Medical Center after a short illness. Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wapello at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, with the Rev. Rheinhold Diercks officiating. Interment will be in the Wapello Cemetery. Pallbearers are L.J. Tom Thompson, Richard Tillmann, Daniel Hodges, Gaylord Elliott, Dennis Meeker, and James Poling. Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Huston, Leroy Corey, James Greenfield, Charles Gonzales, Paul Bunge, William L. Matthews, Roger Huddle, Fred Brown, Richard Barton and Dale Rickert. Visitation was from 12 noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at the church. The family was present from 7-9 p.m. Born on Dec. 16, 1925, in Burlington, he was the son of Irma Goeser Hodges and Daniel Hodges, and spent much of his childhood in Burlington, graduating from Burlington High School in 1943. He is survived by his wife, Mary, sons Mike and David, daughter-in-law Joan, grandsons Bob and Ben Hodges, granddaughter Stehanie, (of) Brinklow, MD., a sister, Betty, of Norristown, Pa., a brother, Roy, of Mount Pleasant, two nieces and a nephew.
