Skipto DATE: 2/9/2010 at 10:50:28 Surnames: KALLENBERGER,WINKELMANN,GAST,HIDLEGAUGH Source: Louisa County Historical Society George Daniel Kallenberger was born in Bier, Germany, May 31, 1831, and departed from this life March 7, 1915, aged 83 years, 9 months and 7 days. At the age of 14 he came with his parents to America and landed at New Orleans, from which place he came to Saint Louis and resided until he came to Muscatine, Iowa. He was united in marriage on the 21st of December, 1864, to Miss Sophia Winkelmann. To this union were born seven children, Margaret, Elizabeth and Amanda, Twins; Ninetta, Anna, Daniel and Adam. Of these only two survive to mourn his death, Margaret, now Mrs. Ferry Gast and Ninetta, now Mrs. John Hidlegaugh. There are 17 grandchildren and one great grandchild, besides a host of friends. He departed with the knowledge that he was going to be with his Lord, who died for him and where there is no more sorrow and suffering. The funeral was held from the home of Ferry Gast in Grandview, conducted by H. Graham. Interment was made in the Indian Creek Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their many thanks to the kind friends, who aided them during their bereavement.
