Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., December 3, at Harrison Funeral Home in Tama with Rev. Peterson officiating. Another service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction with the Rev. Lynne Smith officiating. Donna Belle Hughes was the organist. Casket bearers were George Rosenberger, Bill Duffy, Mike Sawyer, Dean Luxford, Don Kilstofte, and Vic Novak. Honorary casket bearers were Tommy Thomas, Bill Peters, Dick Pugh of Columbus Junction, Bob Logan of Winfield, Howard Schultz of Ainsworth and Bud Mink of Silvis, IL. Burial was in the Cambrian Cemetery, Columbus Junction. Calvin was born in Louisa County on November 20, 1925, the son of Jarrett and Alice Isom Peters. He graduated from Cotter High School and Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant. On November 1, 1952, he married Alma Clayton at the Methodist Church in Burlington. They had lived in Columbus Junction, Ainsworth, and Tama, where he had been a public school administrator, educator, and coach. He was a member of the STC School board, Masonic Lodge, Tama County Shrine Club, Tama-Toledo Eagles, V.F.W., Tama Legion, Tama County I Club, and Tama-Toledo Country Club. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Calma Peters of Marshalltown and Lisa Doran of Tama; three grandsons, Nathan and Derek Doran and Tyson Peters; his mother, Alice Peters of Columbus Junction; two brothers, Lewis of Abingdon, IL and Dan of Winfield; and four sisters, Pat Neece of Weatherford, TX, Sadie Gevock of Washington, Sharon Mapel of Columbus Junction and Karen Pierce of Moline.
