    3. The state wants to close birth records held in the counties, which are now open for inspection, for 75-95 years. State-held records have been closed for years. If you feel strongly and are going to write, talk about the considerable amount of money you would spend in Iowa to research, and that closing records is a threat to democracy. They don't want to hear from a bunch of genealogists who are whining that they will lose their hobby. The posts that have been forwarded to all the lists were inaccurate and were not written by a member of the Iowa Genealogical Society.
