Regarding the Portrait and Biographical Album of Louisa County, Iowa (1889); it is a great book with a lot of history and genealogy, but it's poorly indexed. A complete, 83 page "everyname" index is available, however, from the Iowa Genealogical Society, PO Box 7735, Des Moines, IA 50322. My recollection is that the index costs about $10.
