Already, I am receiving messages from folks wanting me to change INDEX listings that I am posting on the IaLCGS website. May I emphasize that this is an INDEX ONLY to already published data and it would be ludicrous to change an index to something different from the printed data. NO corrections will be made to this list as I am extracting it from a "LOCKED" database module that I cannot change at this point. This is to ensure that the compiler's version and mine match. I can extract data from it and convert it to HTML, but I cannot change the original data. This is a monumental task that the Louisa County Genealogical Society has undertaken and this is only the first phase of others to come. The Index is nothing more than that, AN INDEX to the published cemetery books. In the next phase Vicki and Dana Teel have compared Cemetery Book Listings, WPA listings and other conflicting data which will be addressed in the future when the actual cemetery records themselves are prepared for the Internet. There are approximately 2200 corrections or contradictions identified to date in various sources. We are still trying to figure out exactly how to handle this so it is easily understood. Again, may I emphasize that the records we are putting on line are there to help you locate data, but you are encouraged to actually verify it for your satisfaction with the original sources once you know what they are. We don't intend to do all your work for you, but hope to point you in the right direction to find what you need. We have also extracted a military list of all known military burials in that database but it is a secondary project and will not be addressed immediately. Also, the only lookups that I am attempting to do right now are the ones to the actual data indexed in that list. You MUST give me the name and page number from that index, not some other page number, if you want me to give you the data. You will find the page number following the Township ID. i.e. CC-3 means Columbus City Township, Page 3. Without the Index data, I can't take the time for the main project to run down your relatives for you. I will do them as I find time and the database is my main priority at this time. Right at this moment, only names beginning with A through E have been uploaded but that will change daily so you may want to check back often. When possible, please address any comments to the list rather than to me as I am having difficulty keeping up with my e-mail. To find this index, go the the Introductory page at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialcgs/lccintro.htm Sorry to have to draw such a hard line on what I can and cannot do but I am sure you all want this data to go up as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience. Keep in mind that a person may be listed under their maiden name if you don't agree with the posting. Both maiden and married names are being addressed when known in this database so you may find the same person listed twice. Norma Jennings Listowner Coordinator of the IALOUISA & IALCGS web pages.
