    3. Margery: I wonder if you are looking in the wrong place for Franklin Griswold. Since his name and his wife's are on a tombstone in Oakland Cemetery with her birth and death date, but no deathdate for him, it appears that he outlived his wife. Elizabeth Griswold born 31 July 1840; died 27 January 1909. B.F. Griswold was born 22 April 1835 but his death date is blank. I would start looking for him and his descendants sometime after 1909 since he apparently had his wife's death date engraved on the tombstone. Perhaps there was no one to left to take care of his deathdate or he may have moved on to another county with a son, daughter, brother, or his in laws, after her death and he may be buried somewhere else. If he died after 1909 in Louisa County, there should be a death record for him at the courthouse. By that time, most deaths were recorded. Interestingly, the same situation occurs with Ira Griswold. His wife is buried in the Fulton/Cairo Cemetery with both dates for her, but no dates for him. If my calculations are correct, Ira Griswold's wife was only 17 years older than Franklin. Was he a brother or are these his parents? Folks did marry young in those days. Since you have other data to disprove or correlate this date, I believe I would also search surrounding counties or if known where the family resided after 1909. In researching my own family, I discovered the reason the parents were so difficult to find, when they disappeared from the Va. census records, they were lurking right under my nose in Johnson Co., Iowa. They had moved her with their daughter and son-in-law. Norma
