Linda, I have a copy of George W. Cross' discharge from military service September 20, 1864.(Filed in Book O, page 236). It states in part that he was born in Ripley Co. Indiana, and is twenty-seven years old. He was a member of "G" company, 27th Regiment of Illinois Infantry Volunteers. This is a discrepancy in age from the 1870 census, but either could be wrong.
