    3. If you want your descendants 100 years form now to see those photos, you should be taking them in black and white. Color photos are not very archivally safe. They say they only last about one generation. Cemeteries >Yesterday Dana and I went out to find headstones of our relatives and discovered some problems and joys with our cemeteries. > >The Wapello Cemetery had many headstones which had broken off their bases, buried headstones, and some had headstones just laying on the ground near where trees had been removed. > >The Cairo-Fulton Cemetery had some of the same damage. We found headstones that had a first name & dates, but no surname so we can only guess who was buried there. My grandmother had a sister who died at 10 yrs.old and all references listed her buried as Twila Sapp 1924-1934, we discovered Twila M. 1924-1934 doesn't have a surname on her headstone. A brother died at birth, could this be the little white headstone that only says INFANT across the top? > >And the Harrison Cemetery, it was well kept, clean, and very serene. This is where my husbands family is buried. All headstones clearly marked so it was easy to tell who was buried in a lot. > >It's easy to see that some families are never forgotten and some are never remembered. Sad but true. > > >I took pictures of my families headstones so in 100 yrs. my great grandchildren won't be searching for headstones that may be gone. It gave Dana and I a chance to get out and see some of the countryside as I use to do with my grandparents when I was a child. > >This summer we will be visiting many of the cemeteries in Louisa Co. and taking pictures (Dana's favorite hobby), so if you would like a picture of a headstone or family plot just let me know. > >Vicki > > > >==== IALOUISA Mailing List ==== >Mailing Lists: >mailto:IALOUISA-L@rootsweb.com >mailto:IAHENRY-L@rootsweb.com >mailto:IAHENRY-L@rootweb.com
