    3. Dear Gary and LC list, This is response # 46 JOHNSON/JOHNSTON This is similar to the BROWN surname request. There are 31 indexed names for these surnames, and I believe it to be counter-productive to list all the names now. They represent several different and probably unrelated families. Like with the BROWN surname, my only suggestion would be to narrow the search and request myself and/or another local volunteer to search the 31 file folders in the Heritage Center here for specific first names of JOHNSON/JOHNSTON family members. The amount of time this takes will be dependent on our other requests. The earliest people known to be in Louisa County should be named first, with their family members. You should check the censuses for these people at your local genealogy library and try to locate the township in which they lived. You can check the cemetery listings, Springer History Volume II biographies and the 1889 Portrait and Biographical Album of Louisa County and other items on the Louisa County Rootsweb site as well as the links to other sites that Norma offers there. With such a common name you may have to do more preliminary research than with less common surnames. Keith Street ckcasey@netins.net 325 Franklin Ave, Wapello, IA 52653-1515 319-523-8164
