    1. Dos & Don'ts for posting on the list

    3. It is the Listowner's responsibility to occasionally repost the dos and don'ts of using this mailing list. As listowner of the IALOUISA-L, I encourage "tolerance" if someone makes a single error. We all have our weak moments. I am not a schoolteacher with ruler in hand. I am here to guide and help you not to chastize you on nitpicking minor matters. I have little tolerance for intolerant people. Repeat offenders will be reminded by the "LISTOWNER" . May I ask you to NOT police the mailing list. That responsibility belongs to the Listowner alone. Do not send spam e-mail messages to mailing lists. Do not send attachments (attached files) of any sort to mailing lists. This includes URL shortcuts, v-cards, GEDCOM files, zipped files, and any other type of attachment. Do not forward virus hoaxes or chain letters to mailing lists. Do not use HTML or RTF (rich text format) in messages sent to mailing lists. Do not cross-post messages to multiple mailing lists on the "To:" line or the "Cc:" line of the e-mail message. Do not send e-mail messages to mailing lists for which the topic is inappropriate. (Our emphasize is on "Louisa County" so all messages should pertain to our county and not other counties.) Do not flame other members of the mailing list. As certain issues or problems arise on your mailing lists, it will be up to the list administrator, to step in and educate (or re-educate) the list subscribers on how to resolve these issues or problems. For example: 1.Subscribers need to know that they shouldn't use any of the following options in e-mail sent to the mailing lists: File attachments (You can send them in private mail) HTML or RTF (rich text format) formatting Signature files wider than 70 characters or longer than 4-5 lines, OR with long lists of surnames. My personal goals are to have a friendly list functioning in a cooperative manner with patience and understanding for all. If you are unhappy with the postings, you have two options, the delete key or the "unsubscribe" function. Norma Jennings Listowner, IALOUISA-L mailing list.
