    3. Steve: I would like you to see if you have any information on any of the Graves family during this time. I cannot prove who belonged to who, and maybe there are some answers here, I hope. Jesse Graves died 22 Oct 1857 and is buried in the Oakland/Carpenter cem. His wife is known only as Lucinda and she died 17 Feb 1856, also at Oakland/Carpenter. Francis Hill died 31 Jan 1860, Elizabeth d. 18 Feb 1871. I cannot find any background on any of these Grandparents. The other Graves are: Erastus; Sylvester; Electra; Delatus; Benoni; Elias; and Samuel. Benoni and Elias were both in the Civil War. Benoni married REBECCA and I have names of children MARY, MARTHA, MARVIN, ISOBELL, AMANDA and EVA. He married Elmira Day, 3 Mar 1865, and have children named: Anna Bell; Jennie Amelia: Laura Estella; Clara; Grace; Elma; Charlie; and John Wesley Graves. I really need proof of connections and hope you can find something for me. I want to thank you for any help and would be most appreciative of any ties you find for this group of relatives. The roll contains August 1, 1857 thru December 28, 1860. While primarily Muscatine County news, there are some references to Louisa County citizens. There are brief announcements of marriages and deaths. I have the roll until May 14 and would be glad to look up a marriage or death for anyone. Please send a request to me by email with name and date (as specific as possible) of the person you are looking for. I did find the following interesting notice in the October 12, 1860 issue: Reuben C. Latta was killed in a landslide at his mining claim at Alpha, Nevada County, California. The remains were taken to his brother, R.W. Latta's home in Napa City. There father, James Latta, was a resident of Grandview at the time. [Anyone doing LATTA family research?] Steve Harrison P.O.
