Hello, my name is Marilynn Mundy and I am researching GALLAGHER in Louisa County. On the 1870 census (Wapello Twp.) is listed Charles Gallgher w/wife Catherine and children Thomas, James and Mary. Charlie and Catherine are my daughters direct paternal line. They were born in Ireland and list their ages as 50 and 48 respectively with Thomas listed as age 16, James at 14 and Mary at 7. They arrived in Louisa County sometime between 1854 and 1856 as Thomas was born in Ohio and James in Iowa. Catherine is listed in the Louisa County death records as having died on April 13, 1886 at age 64 years and 2 months. She was buried in Wapello Cemetery. I don't have any death information on Charles. The only information I have on any of the children is that Thomas married Amanda Hicklin, daughter of James and Sarah (Williams) Hicklin. There is also another Gallagher on the 1870 Louisa Co. census (Charrton Twp.) at that time - James Gallagher, age 59, born in Ireland and his wfie, Catherine, age 46, also born in Ireland. He owned a hotel and she was the landlady. Their children were Elizabeth, age 16 and Argard (?), age 17, both born in New York. They had a day laborer listed on the census with them - Hugh Gallagher, age 58, born in Ireland. Any information about Charles, Catherine and their offspring would be very appreciated as well as whether there is a blood tie between Charles the farmer and James the hotel owner.
