    3. The Fourth of July holiday is almost here! For most of us, that means a cookout, fireworks and another day or two that we don’t have to go to work. However, what this holiday is really about is that this day commemorates our independence from Great Britain back in 1776. Exercise your independence this year by becoming an IAGenWeb county coordinator .and experience the satisfaction of bringing IAGenWeb to appreciative genealogists everywhere. 1. ([IALOUISA])Surname Shout Out: Frazier
    2. Christina Wilson
    3. I am looking for Absalom Frazier and his family who may have spent a few years in Louisa County around 1870. Either before or after living in Louisa County they lived in Des Moines County--then finally settled in Washington County. I'm also grasping at straws, since some circumstantial evidence could suggest he is related to Alvis Frazier; and Alvis and some of his sons did settle in Louisa County. Absalom Frazier b abt 1828 in Ohio (+/-10 years) died 3 Jul 1893 in Washington County, Iowa m Catherine Dill (b 23 Jul 1935 in Preble County, Ohio d 29 Mar 1916 Washington County) married 12 Nov 1853 in Randolph County, Indiana. So far I have found 6 children (there may have been 9) Leander born about 1856 in Randolph County Indiana Isalona born about 1860 in Randolph County (died young) Florence born about 1864 in Indiana Frank E. born about 1868 possibly in Louisa County John brn about 1870 in Iowa died young Burt born about 1870 in Louisa county. The Frazier family was in Randolph County Indiana in 1860; Des Moines County, Iowa in 1870; and Washington county in 1880. Outside of one of the state censuses that asked what county in Iowa children were born in (the censuses seem to find a different birth place every time), I have no other evidence they were actually in Louisa County. Thanks, Christina (I don't think the family owned any land and Absalom seems to have died without a will).

    3. As Thanksgiving nears, it's a special time to put some thought into things for which we are thankful.   One of the things I appreciate is IAGenWeb and the fact that we offer a web resource tool for family researchers that is high quality and free. In order to make those resources available, we count on volunteers to assist. IAGenWeb has countless volunteers and we are grateful for all they do.   If you are interested in joining our team as a volunteer, there are numerous ways you can contribute.   One way is to volunteer to transcribe records or you could offer to do look ups.  Another way is to become a county coordinator for one of our orphan counties.  Right now, we have 13 counties that are in need of a coordinator.  They are: JONES, JACKSON, SAC, IDA, POWESHIEK, SCOTT, CARROLL, GREENE, LYON, ADAMS, POTTAWATTAMIE, EMMET, and MAHASKA.
