Have to tell you though it took me longer--even pasting in the text--then it did to create my own web pages for them. That's mainly due to the reformatting that is necessary by the strange line breaks that occur about 2/3rd of the way across the line--leaving paragraphs that are very hard to read unless corrrected. Great idea, but is there any way to facilitate the process??? Thanks for all you are doing! Hi: I surely appreciated finding my grandparents marriage among your White/Orr listings. My grandmothers name was wrong, and she was listed as Etta Young, which should be Etta Yocum, da of Geo. Yocum. She married Elmer Orr and you found them on pg 130 of Book G. Is there anyway this mistake can be corrected? She was born to George and Amanda Jane Hill Yocum, on 20 Nov 1869, at Columbus City Twp, IA. Elmer Orr b. 12 July 1870. M. 3 Mar 1889, according to the copy of their marriage license I have. Thank you for all that you're doing!! Hello: I have an obituary for William J. Grimes born 4 Apr 1849 in Vinton County, Ohio. He married Margaret Duncan in 1870 in Louisa County and they were parents of seven children. William J. Grimes died at age 55 (about 1904) near Allerton. Assume Allerton is located in Louisa County? Am trying to tie William and Margaret (Duncan) Grimes to my family? Anyone having information about them would be appreciated. He may have been a brother to my great grandmother Nancy Grimes Ogier? Thanks. Marilyn
Hi: I have Daniel and Catherine Pennypacker in my line. They were born and married in Montgomery Co, PA. Moved to Louisa Co, IA about 1850's. They died there and are buried in the Swank Cem. near Lone Tree, IA. Their travels sound somewhat like your family. I am curious if there was some reason they moved to IA? Perhaps a land boom or something? Can you or anyone tell me about this? Erin, I am not a MILLER descendant but my g-grandmother, Lavina BEDWELL, married Alexander MILLER, s/o Henry and Lydia MILLER, on November 11, 1855 in Louisa Co. They had one daughter, Nancy, b. 1861 who married (I think) Benton Wykert. Alexander Miller died on February 17, 1863 from injuries sustained in the Civil War, and Lavina married George W. HONTS in 1865. Alexander Miller is buried in Long Creek Cemetery in the MILLER family plot. George and Lavina Honts moved to Polk Co., NE by the 1880 census. Living next door to them are Benton and Nancy Wykert. The age is right (age 19) for Nancy Wykert to be the daughter of Lavina and Alexander, and the fact that she's living next door makes me suspect this is Nancy Miller. Unfortunately I don't have any Miller info other than that. The Bedwell/Gregory Family is a fascinating line and connection that has appeared a number of times over the years in queries. I agree with Connie that it is worthy of a spot on the webpages. I am currently working on the Keck Funeral Home Index in addition to revising the Web pages for two counties, so am not able to start another project right now. However, do we have any potential or established writers out there that would be willing to gather all the letters and data together on this family and organize it into a format that I could use on the website? Now, I know many of you don't think you can create webpages, but there is an easy way to do it if you are using Netscape. Just create a New -- Blank Page from your drop down File menu and type in your data and save it. It can then be sent to me via an attachment in an e-mail message. It doesn't have to be fancy but if the data is organized, I can finish it easily. I haven't used Microsoft Windows Compose files but they should also work if saved with the .htm suffix. Otherwise, it needs to be sent to me as an e-mail attachment either in Wordperfect or Wordpad format. I can not use anything written in Microsoft Word unless it is sent to me in hard copy so I can scan it in or retype it easily. Microsoft Word uses some code that is unique to Microsoft making it incompatible in some instances with other programs. Since I do not own the program itself this creates some problems for me. I do have a conversion program that will convert MW to WP, but it usually takes a lot of unwanted garbage with it and it is time consuming to clean up. I am reluctant to volunteer to work with Microsoft Word files due to time constraints on my end. You also have Wordpad in your Windows program and once your data is typed in, you can save it with either a .rtf or .htm suffix before sending it and it should work with all the programs that I use for the website. Do I hear any volunteers of the Bedwell/Gregory Family that would like to put this material together in a workable document for me. We do not use GedCom's on the web pages unless they are converted to another format first. GedComs per se take up too much space and currently aren't allowed on GenWeb pages.. Thank you! Norma Jennings

I have dead-ended on these ancestors in Louisa. It appears that Jonathan, Harriet and Henry were born in OH, but I haven't been able to pin them down there yet. Lydia appears to have been born in PA, but no luck with her yet either. I have seen that there are others researching the HAMILTON name, any cuzzies out there? I don't recall seeing any MILLER researchers. Thanks to Bev, Norma, the Streets and all the rest who are doing a tremendous amount of work assisting those of us with Louisa roots! Bev, I can't thank you enough for the information you posted (and cc'd to me) on the PARSONS, PAXTON, SIMMONS, OGIER, JOACHIM, BENNINGTON, etc. lines! I will use it to document information that I may already have (but probably don't). I still have some real looking and documenting to do on many of these lines. Your info got me to thinking about where to go from here. Where would I send for probate records for ancestors who died before 1900, say in the late 1890's, 1880's, 1870's, 1860's, etc.? If you see any more references to JOACHIM people (especially with that spelling instead of YOCUM) let me know. That and the PARSONS lines have been difficult. Have info that says that Joel C. PARSONS and his wife Caroline (JOACHIM) PARSONS both died in Perryopolis, Fayette, PA. Does not make sense since they emigrated to Iowa before 1850. Makes more sense that they would stay put in Iowa rather than move back to PA where they were married (in Pittsburg, Allegheny County). But I have never been able to find their death records or probate records or cemetery of record. Am stumped... Thanks again for all the help. I want to add that I always check the info of anyone that posts to the IALOUISA list. I have found more than one reference to a possible relation that I did not know about before. Thanks to all those noble researchers out there that help us all so much!!!! Kudos to all of you! Willa Parsons Griffin
Hi Pat, Would you like to have the marriage listings for the surnames you are researching? I have the index now so getting them to you won't take as long as before; I am nearly caught up with all the previous requests for look-ups so can have the inf to you within a few days if you like. Gary, Sorry to be so long in reponding to your request. I didn't find anything in the 1850 census for Welsey Hall or Enos Gruver. I checked the marriage listings, only one for Gruver: Bk "A" p 302 2 Nov 1854 Wesley HALL\ Nancy E. BUFFINGTON (18). There are several more HALL marriages listed if you would like to have them. For GRUVER: Bk "F" p 11 7 Feb 1883 Irvin GRUVER age 24\ Ida E. Adams age 17 (80). If you are interested, I will be posting the HONTS marriges on the mailing list in a few days. I am about caught up with the look-ups now. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Bev

If this is the same Gregory family I'm thinking of, you will be surprised when you get the info. It's one that ought to be on our WebPages, because most researchers would never believe it. But we found a newspaper article about the family, that proves the history. Sorry to get you all excited and then let you down, Keith isn't feeling well right now, and I don't know anything about his filing system, so I guess you'll have to wait on pins and needles to hear from him. In the meantime, you can contact Deb at the Des Moines County Historical Society for Rosemary Wade's address... dmcohist@interl.net Keith/Connie Street ckcasey@netins.net 325 Franklin Ave, Wapello, IA 52653-1515 319-523-8164
Connie, I would be most interested in getting in touch with the Gregory researcher, and in seeing the Gregory material that Keith has. I have had limited contact with a Gregory researcher in Tippecanoe Co., IN. She said the name Hiram is a common one in her line, but she did not know anything about the Hiram in Louisa Co. I have found that a fair number of the folks who came to Louisa Co. in the late 1830s and '40s came from Tippecanoe Co. and I would bet that this Hiram's family did also, and that might explain why Delilah Bedwell was living in his home. (John Bedwell and Eliza Jane Harnett were married in Tippecanoe Co. on June 30, 1836 - the Bedwell family moved on to Louisa Co. by 1837, and the Harnett family stayed behind - Eliza's parents are believed to have died in Jasper Co., IN.) As for Rachel Bedwell living in a George and Nancy Smith's home in the 1850 census. Rachel's aunt (John Bedwell's sister) Nancy b. abt 1817 married a George Smith (according to some info I was given - I've not seen a marriage record, though). I suspect this was the home that Rachel was living in at the time of the 1850 census. Here is the info I have: 1850 census of Louisa Co. Dwelling #15 Smith, George 29 Canada Nancy 33 VA Bedwell, Rachel 5 IA McClurg, Joseph 6 IA (Who was Joseph McClurg?) In my posting of a day or so ago I wrote that Rachel was in the home of George and Nancy (Blake) Smith. I believe that is wrong, and that she was in the home of George and Nancy (Bedwell) Smith. I look forward to the posting of the Bedwell marriages by Bev Todd. This may shed much-needed light on these families for me. Thanks again, Bev, for so tirelessly posting this kind of info on the Louisa Co. families that you've been doing - this is a tremendous boost to those of researching the area!
