Hi List: I am doing a one name study on the name COVEY. If anyone has run across any of these folks I would certainly appreciate hearing from you. My direct line goes back to 1639 in Braintree, Massachuttes. I'm now trying to fatten the tree and perhaps add a little color. Thanks in advance for your efforts. Hello Louisa Co.! My gr-gr-grandmother was Amy WILLIS, wife of Addison REYNOLDS. Their children were Eliza Jane b.1838?; Viola b.1841?; Eli b.1844; Addison b.1848? Amy appears in the 1850 Iowa Census. She probably died that year or the next, though. Addison married again on 16 April 1852 in Louisa Co. to Elizabeth HOLIDAY, widow of William Holiday. (The spelling may be HOLLIDAY.) Elizabeth had three children with William: Ann b.1844?; James P. b.1847; Charles W. b.1848. Addison and Elizabeth then had these four children: Clara L. b.1854?; Isabelle b.18 July 1856; Sarah b. 1858?; Thomas O. b. after the census taken 6 July 1860. I haven't looked for county or state death records for Amy. Do they exist for that period? I have looked through cemetery records in Louisa and Muscatine Cos. without luck. Addison, Elizabeth and daughter Isabelle are buried together in Kisor-Eisele Cem. south of Muscatine (76 Twp., I think). Amy probably died in Muscatine Co., but there were Willises in Louisa Co.; I thought I'd see what I might find there -- with some kind help from others on this list. The 1850 Census gives Amy's age as 43, so she may have been born about 1807. (I wonder, though, since Addison was born in Dec. 1810; and also Amy would have been at least 30 at the time of Eliza Jane's birth. Also, the 1840 Census says that they were both "over 20 and under 30.") The 1850 Census also says that Amy was born in Pennsylvania. My grandmother did say that Amy was Pa. Dutch. When did Amy Willis Reynolds die? Where is she buried? And I'd love to know about those lost cousins, the decendants of Addison Reynolds borne by both of his wives. Thank you for reading all of this! Jane in Iowa
Hello! I am trying to determine if the Ona CASSIDY who died in Wapello in March 1986 is my great-aunt. My g-aunt was born on June 8, 1920, her maiden name was ROBY and her husbands name was Neal CASSIDY. I would like a copy of her death record and obituary. Is there anyone out there who could help me gather this information? Dear Bob, Just read your query on the above surnames. Did you by chance have BLAND's in Wapello Co? Reason is that I have BLAND's in my allied line who were in that county. If so--I have the marriage record books for that county and can check them if you like. I also have the printed 1850 Louisa Co. Census as well as the Early Marriages Book. I didn't find anything for BLAND in either one but found the following information on MASSEY\MASSIE. I use * to indicate a marriage or census listed for that surname. I crosscheck between the two books. My notes will be in (**). I also check the 1850 Louisa Co. Mortality Schedule for any of the surnames. I recently posted the schedule on the mailing list if you want the complete list. 1850 Louisa County Census, Wapello Twp #151\152 MASSIE, Vinton* age 26, sawyer, b OH; Hannah age 26, b OH; Mary J. age 4, b IL; Cordelia* age 1 b IA. Hello, I just joined. I am tracing my wife's family and have found that her GGGrandparents were Vinton MASSIE and Hannah BLAND of Wapello. They were probably born between 1820 and 1830. I believe they farmed around Wapello and raised a family there. They eventually moved to Knox County, IL and lived with their daughter, Martha Ellen. Martha married George Washington (no, I'm not kidding- George and Martha) SHUMAKER. I don't know where to begin to research them in Iowa. Do the Louisa County records go back to the 1850's? Bob
Connie Sincerely hope the surgery and recovery are going well! All our thoughts are with you and Keith and tell him hello for us all. Thanks too for all you do for Louisa Co. researchers. Sondra Peterson

For those of you who don't know, Keith had bypass surgery last week. Because of complications, it will be two or three weeks before he's home. So, if he or I promised something, please be patient and remind us later in the month. Thank you so much. Keith/Connie Street ckcasey@netins.net 325 Franklin Ave, Wapello, IA 52653-1515 319-523-8164
