Hi! I have a couple of questions that I know one of you can help me with. 1. Can I obtain a copy of the death cert. for an individual who died in 1986? 2. Where do I write for this document? 3. Is there a researcher who would do it for less? 4. What paper should I check in for a 1986, Wapello, Louisa Co. obituary? Thanks for your help! I am not familiar with researching in your county. :) Robyn theashtons@hotmail.com ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

I'm looking for information on Lorenzo Baldwin and his eldest daughter, Rosa. Some time ago, Franklin Best was kind enough to send me quite a bit of information on Lorenzo, but we were never able to determine what happened to him between the 1880 census, when he was a jeweler in Columbus Junction at age 56, and 1890, when his wife and younger daughter came to Newberg, OR. Why wasn't he with them? Why didn't the elder daughter come? Where was his young son, Charles? In the Newberg OR 1900 census, there is only Lorenzo's wife Mary and his second daughter, Martha listed. In Newberg newspaper articles at the time, there is mention only of Mary BALDWIN and daughter, Martha. If anyone knows what happened to Lorenzo BALDWIN after 1880, I would be forever grateful. The Social Security Death Index Interactive Search on Rootsweb is updated monthly. The last update was the September 1999 update. If you haven't used this resource in the past you can find it at: http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi The Immigration Ships Transcription Guild now has many ships passage records on line at: http://istg.rootsweb.com/ Norma Jennings
CROW, MALLORY, HUMPHREY, RONALD, HOOK I am a little late, but an avid reader. These are all in the 1840 Census. I have quite a bit of information. Perhaps I can fill a few holes for someone, or find a few new cousins. Vicki Crow Via
Several updates to the Louisa County Genealogical Society's webpages were made today. On the Databank Index, Maj. Marcia Kuehl has given me permission to link to her military records pages on the website so if you missed the earlier message the link is now permanently available on the Databank Index page at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialouisa/databank.htm The Keck Funeral Home Index is now complete. This is mostly a cut and paste job utilizing copies of Mary Louise's files that she used to create the original book. The various spellings are as they were spelled on the backs of the old checks as they could best be interpreted at that time. I do have a copy of the actual records on my computer now and should be able to do lookups for you by next week. Still a wee bit disorganized but we are getting there. This is how the names are spelled in the actual book so it was important that the index match as nearly as possible. The links were added for use on the Internet and once again I request that you please let me know if any of these links are broken or anything really peculiar shows up on the pages as I did hurry somewhat getting these up for your use. First page at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialouisa/kndx1912.htm The Index page and also the Databank pages were updated also today. Hopefully, you will find the Databank index page more eye pleasing and easier to use in the new format. Also the Graphics link at the bottom of the page was corrected if you want to see more of Starlight Galleries backgrounds. I am moving on to Trevor Fultons manuscripts of data in Ireland next for my Fulton Manuscripts before returning to edit the Indian Creek Cemetery Records for the Louisa Pages. More later. Cheers Norma Jennings
I recently had a request for where to send for Civil War Records. My Internet Friend Major Marcia Kuehl has an excellent Military site with various sources of military information. If you need to send for any early military records, you may want to check out her forms page at:: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/TheStorm/Ancestor/m-forms.htm

October 17, 1999 Hi all, I am back on the list, primarily as a lurker. Many of you are aware that I had heart problems in August, bypass surgery which triggered a brain stem stroke on September 9, went to a rehabilitation center on September 20, and was discharged home from there on October 15. I will receive in-home rehabilitation therapy for an unspecified period of time. I thank those of you who have so graciously sent messages of encouragement and support to both Connie and myself. We appreciate it. If I have not responded to a previous posting of yours, please make the request again. I'll try to answer after-the-stroke requests, but fear that earlier requests are lost and deleted. I'm looking to the future and hope that we can mutually assist each other in our future genealogical research via computer and e-mail. Thanks again to all of you! Cheers from Keith Keith/Connie Street ckcasey@netins.net 325 Franklin Ave, Wapello, IA 52653-1515 319-523-8164
Dear Norma Am looking for the burial place of Richard Lewellyn Reiley (Riley) born Feb 21, 1973 to Lewis/Louis Albert Reiley and Carrie Leanne Reiley....died April 1, 1973....twin of Robert LeRoy Reiley. Please advise to mailto:bpapich@bscn.com or addressee Thank You
FYI: Forgive me for being a bit windy today, but my cup truly doth runneth over. Many of you have been so helpful and I want you all to know it is appreciated. It has been an exciting fall for me with the cooperation of many members involved. As you all know the Keck Funeral Home Records Index 1912-1937 will soon be completed and available on-line. This would not have been possible without many hours of work on the part of Mary Louise Phillips and the cooperation of Cordell Haegle (sp??), the current owner/operator of the Keck Funeral Home. In addition, Rachelle Curtis, with her husband and daughter's help, physically canvassed and alphabetized the current Indian Creek Cemetery burials. These are waiting on the back burner for HTML conversion and loading onto our Louisa County Genealogical Society's website in the future. Trevor Fulton, a former Ireland resident who has now retired in southern England is now helping to write and organize the research work done on the Fulton name in Ireland which will be added to my Fulton Manuscripts later this winter. Just this week, a relative of my husband's, the gg grandson of Mifflin Jennings, a former Louisa County Resident before moving westward, has advised me that he has the diaries that Mifflin wrote regarding the Civil War and wondered if I would be interested in putting them on line where the public would have access to them. We also have a picture of Mifflin and his brother, Taylor visiting their young brother Elijah's grave in Arlington Cemetery. Naturally, my answer to Ron Smith was in the affirmative so we will have a busy winter in Columbus Junction. These will probably go on my homepages but will be linked to the Louisa pages. I anticipate that Mifflin will mention other Louisa County men who served with him, but I have not seen the material yet to know what exactly to expect. To all of you who have been adding obituaries, queries, and other data on line on GenConnect, and who have worked on indexing the cemetery records and other data, I wish to extend my profound thanks. The Lookup help has also been a valuable addition to the mailing list. All of this is helping to preserve vital information for future generations and to help make it more accessible to the public. If I am slow to answer an e-mail, please understand and when possible post your queries on the mailing list, where all the subscribers have demonstrated a willingness to pitch in and help. What a wonderful group of people to work with. Thank you one and all. I only hope I haven't missed anyone. If I have my apologies and my sincere gratitude. Last and not lieast, Keith, please take care of yourself and get well fast as we are missing you on the mailing list. I am so happy to hear Keith is leaving the hospital and sincerely hope he will continue to improve steadily. Will be happy when you both can resume a regular schedule, even if it takes awhile. {8 ) Bj -----Original Message----- From: Keith/Connie Street <ckcasey@netins.net> To: IALOUISA-L@rootsweb.com <IALOUISA-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, October 15, 1999 5:39 AM Subject: IA LOUISA re Keith >Just thought you'd like to know that Keith is coming home from hospital >today. Just thought you'd like to know that Keith is coming home from hospital today. He'll still have some rehab, but will be glad to have him back. Don't know how long it will be before he's able to do any research to help answer your questions. We live across the street from the courthouse but it's a long way when you're unsteady on your feet. NEW!!!! The Keck Funeral Home has given us permission to publish the Index Only to the 1912-1937 Funeral Home Records. Mary Louise Phillips spent many hours transcribing the records that had been kept on the backs of old checks at the funeral home in Wapello. The years from 1912 to 1924 have been loaded and the rest will follow as soon as completed. 1912-1916; 1917-1918; 1919-1920; 1921-1922; 1923-1924 The text format used for the hard copy Index has to be converted to HTML code and entered into tables .before they can be posted so please be patient while I accomplish this task . The site search engine may start searching these records in the next few days so the ones that are completed have been linked to the index page of the Louisa County website while I complete the other years 1925-1937. If you want to manually search the years above before they are recognized by the search engine, they are alphabetized within each year. You may use the links above to access them. Once the work is completed I will have a copy of the actual records themselves indexed on my site for lookups but for the time being, you will need to write to the Louisa County Genealogical Society or go to one of the libraries to see the actual books that have been compiled as I do not have time to do lookups right now. The Funeral Home has asked us to NOT publish the entire records on line so only the Index can be published. Norma Jennings
As subscribers to the Louisa County mailing list, you have the first opportunity to preview the Keck Funeral Home Index for the years 1912-1918. These were loaded this a.m. but are not linked to the main page yet. When we know all the links are working and the work is complete these records in their entirety will go up to 1930. If you find a broken link or typographical error in the works in progress, please let me know. These files are currently located at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialouisa/kndx1912.htm and http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialouisa/kndx1917.htm Thank you for your assistance. You cannot put notes on official county records. Doing things like that give all genealogists a bad name. Keith/Connie Street ckcasey@netins.net >Hi again: Perhaps you could put a note beside Young, saying it was Yocum, >rightly.

Hi: I, too, am searching the Hill ancestors, and descendants of Francis and Elizabeth Truss Hill. They are both buried in the Oakland/Carpenter Cem. in Louisa Co. Iowa. Their son Samuel W. is in my family line, as his daughter Amanda Jane Hill married George Washington Yocum and they are the parents of my grandmother Etta Yocum Orr. I have pictures of many of the Hills at this cemetery, including Samuel's wife Alzina Graves Hill. Her parents are Jesse and Lucinda Graves, also buried in same cemetery. I would be very happy to know what information you have on the Hills and Graves. Thank you for anything you would share about them. It is very difficult to find much about them, I find. { : ) Bj Larson My mother also was born in Fredonia, IA in 1896.
